Applying for Tufts Health Direct

Special enrollment periods and qualifying events

Open enrollment has ended. But you may be eligible for a special enrollment period (SEP) that allows you to enroll if you have a qualifying life event, such as:

  • Getting married
  • A change in household dependents (through birth or adoption of a child, and other circumstances)
  • Qualifying for ConnectorCare, after not applying or qualifying in the past
  • Losing a job, turning 26 or no longer qualifying as a dependent (i.e., losing minimum essential coverage)
  • Moving

Visit the Massachusetts Health Connector to learn whether you qualify for an SEP. Keep in mind that an SEP lasts only 60 days after the qualifying life event.

See if you can get financial help

You can always check whether you are eligible for a subsidized ConnectorCare plan or other financial help. Just update your application on the Health Connector online or by phone.

If you’re not eligible for a subsidized option or financial help, you can shop on HSA Insurance for an affordable Tufts Health Direct coverage option. Please note that HSA does not offer subsidized ConnectorCare plans.
