How to renew your health coverage

Be ready when Medicaid renewals start.

September 30, 2022

The COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) is expected to end soon. That means Rhode Island Medicaid will be required to renew each member’s eligibility. This process is how the state confirms that people still qualify for health insurance coverage. Renewals usually occur every year. They were paused during the PHE.

The best way to prepare for your renewal is to make sure the state has up-to-date contact information for you. Call the state if your mailing address, phone number, email or other contact information has changed. That way the state can reach you about your health coverage if needed.

The state will let you know if your health coverage was renewed automatically. Or whether you need to take action to renew your coverage.
