Why Should You Choose a PCP?

Although members of Tufts Health Plan Spirit are not required to choose a PCP, you may find that it’s a great choice for your care.

Who Is a PCP?

Your PCP can be a doctor, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant. The provider you choose must participate in your plan’s network—Tufts Health Plan Spirit. PCPs typically practice internal medicine and/or family medicine. Some PCPs specialize in pediatrics, osteopathy, or obstetrics/gynecology.

What Does a PCP Do?

A PCP provides most of your routine care and can recommend that you see other doctors or practitioners when you have a specific health issue or illness. A PCP can be an advocate for your health, keeps records of the care you’ve received, helps you get the care you need, and refers you to other providers when necessary.

How Can I Find a PCP?
