Corporate and Employee Giving
It’s how we impact our local communities
Tufts Health Plan gives back to society in many ways. The single largest expression of this commitment is the creation and ongoing funding of the Tufts Health Plan Foundation. Our Foundation’s mission matches our own, which is to improve the health and wellness of the diverse communities we serve. To date, the Foundation has distributed more than $18 million in grants to Massachusetts and Rhode Island nonprofits that improve healthy living with an emphasis on older adults.
Less visible but equally important to our local communities is the engagement of our executives on governing boards of nonprofit organizations. Tufts Health Plan executives donated 690 hours to such boards in 2014.
Tufts Health Plan employees are also generous in giving of their time, treasure and talent to support the communities where they live, work and play. Each year, Tufts Health Plan employees invest in various ways: they donate thousands of dollars of goods through annual holiday giving, food, and clothing drives; volunteer their time at local nonprofits, and give money to organizations that stir their passion and compassion.
In 2014, our employees donated more than $76,000 to charitable organizations and volunteered a total of 4,002 hours. In June 2015, nearly 220 Tufts Health Plan employees demonstrated with their actions that community matters during the company’s annual volunteer day. Embodying Tufts Health Plan’s mission, teams set out to clean and beautify three Watertown landmarks, made cards for the elderly, and helped homeless and low-income children get new clothes and toys.
This generosity is at the heart of Tufts Health Plan’s philanthropy, and the company is committed to magnifying these efforts. Through our matching gift program, the Tufts Health Plan Foundation matches employees’ donations to qualifying nonprofits dollar-for-dollar up to $500 per employee, and supports both individual and team volunteering.
