Watertown, MA – Tufts Health Plan announced the appointment of two new executives to its senior management group.

Jean Yang, appointed president of public plans, will lead the strategic direction and business operations for Tufts Health Public Plans, Inc., the company’s Medicaid Managed Care and state-sponsored plans division. Tufts Health Plan has the largest percentage of MassHealth and Qualified Health Plan membership in Massachusetts. Kristin Lewis has been promoted to senior vice president of public affairs and will lead the organization’s public policy, government and public affairs functions.

“Jean and Kristin are both talented and skillful leaders with deep expertise and knowledge of health care and all its intricacies,” said Tom Croswell, Tufts Health Plan president and CEO. “Their business acumen will not only help us steward the organization but also help us adapt as we continue to navigate in a highly regulated, often-changing, competitive environment.”

Yang’s appointment represents her return to Tufts Health Plan, where she once served on the contracting, strategy and analytics team. She most recently served as the executive director of the Children’s Hospital Integrated Care Organization, a group representing Children’s Hospital Boston and its affiliated physicians. She is also a past executive director of the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority, after initially serving as its chief financial officer.

Lewis has been at Tufts Health Plan for more than 20 years. She guides the company on the impact of political changes and public relations as it relates to the company’s strategic goals and business agenda both locally and nationally. She also serves as a key advisor to Tufts Health Plan’s leadership team, ensuring the company has an active and effective voice in shaping public policy, and communicating with external stakeholders in support of the company’s efforts to deliver affordable coverage and access to high quality health care.
