Charlotte Golar Richie and Todd Whitbeck Join Tufts Health Plan Board of Directors
Seasoned leaders bring deep breadth of knowledge and experience from both the public and private sectors
Watertown, MA – Two new executives have joined the Tufts Health Plan 14-member board of directors, a group which stewards the 1.1 million-member health plan continuously ranked as one of the top health plans in the country based on quality and member satisfaction.
Charlotte Golar Richie, a former Massachusetts state legislator and neighborhood development director, and Todd Whitbeck, most recently executive vice president and chief financial officer of Water Pik, Inc., a leader in personal and oral health care products, joined the board on July 1.
“We are thrilled to have Charlotte and Todd on the board. Charlotte has deep roots throughout our community and is highly respected for her tireless advocacy, and Todd is nationally known for his financial and overall business acumen, leadership and strategic thinking,” said Robert Spellman, chair of the Tufts Health Plan board of directors. “Their knowledge and expertise will help our board immensely as we work to shepherd Tufts Health Plan through the ever changing, and at times volatile, health care landscape.”
Golar Richie is an experienced leader and administrator with a background in public service and political activism, dedicated to civil rights, fairness and equality. She is a former member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, and has also served as the City of Boston’s housing chief and director of the Department of Neighborhood Development. She also previously served as a commissioner for the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and senior vice president for public policy, advocacy and government relations for YouthBuild USA. She also currently serves on the Tufts Health Plan Foundation board of directors. She has an M.B.A. from Suffolk University, an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University and a B.A. from Rutgers University.
Whitbeck has thirty years of experience in finance as a senior executive, guiding financial planning and analysis, accounting, mergers and acquisitions, risk management and tax law implementation. Prior to his role at Water Pik, Inc., he served in senior leadership roles at Fleur De Lis Energy, Jp Energy, Sears Holdings, Comp USA, PrimeCo Wireless and Bank One. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington and his B.A. from Oklahoma State University.
