Collaborative Statement on Single Embryo Transfer
from Tufts Health Plan and contracted Fertility Centers
Tufts Health Plan and its participating Fertility Centers share a common goal for patients with fertility challenges, and that is for them to experience the safest pregnancy and the birth of a healthy child. For good-prognosis patients undergoing in-vitro fertilization, we jointly agree that this goal is best achieved with the transfer of a single embryo.
Tufts Health Plan and the undersigned Fertility Centers are committed to working together to develop a coverage policy and supporting educational and decision-making materials for patients and providers intended to encourage and increase the use of single embryo transfer for appropriate candidates in order to reduce the incidence of iatrogenic multiple births with their attendant complications for mother and child.
