Urgent Care Situations

An urgent care situation is when you experience a health problem that needs attention right away but is not an emergency that puts your life in danger or risks permanent damage to your health.

In urgent situations, call your primary care provider (PCP) or behavioral health provider. You can contact any of your providers’ offices 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If appropriate, make an appointment to visit your provider. Your provider must see you within 48 hours for urgent care appointments. If your condition gets worse before your PCP or behavioral health provider sees you, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you have a behavioral health concern, you may also call your local emergency service program (ESP) provider.

In some areas, you may be able to go to an urgent care center (UCC). When going to a UCC, you should try to contact your PCP as well.

To find UCCs in our provider network, use our Find a Doctor, Hospital or Pharmacy tool.
