Freedom From Smoking® is a program offered by the American Lung Association. Although the first steps can be hard, finding your path to a smokefree life is easier with the right help. The American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking program is a proven way to quit smoking—and stay quit—even if you’ve tried before and went back to smoking.
Smokefree.gov was created by the Tobacco Control Research Branch of the National Cancer Institute. It provides free, accurate, up to date information and professional help to support your immediate and long-term needs to quit smoking.
Tobacco cessation helplines
There is a tobacco cessation Helpline available to you to help you with quitting tobacco use. Ask your provider to refer you to QuitWorks. Or you can call the Helpline in your state directly at 1-800-Quit-Now (1-800-784-8669) to verify eligibility for the program.

What is covered by Tufts Health Plan?
Coverage for smoking cessation counseling services1
Smoking cessation counseling services are covered in full with no cost share for most members. Services include individual, group, and telephonic smoking cessation counseling.

Coverage for prescription smoking cessation medications1
If your plan includes Tufts Health Plan’s pharmacy benefit, the following smoking cessation prescription drugs are covered with no cost share for most members:
- Bupropion SR tablet
- Chantix® tablet
- Nicotrol® Inhaler
- Nicotrol® Nasal Spray

Over-the-counter (OTC) smoking cessation products1
Over-the-counter smoking cessation products (such as nicotine gums, lozenges, and patches) may be covered in full for most members with Tufts Health Plan’s pharmacy benefit, with a valid prescription from your provider, at the time of your purchase.
