The latest flu vaccine is proving to be less effective against the 2017–2018 season’s common strains of the flu, causing this flu season to be particularly dangerous for those who come in contact with the virus.
We have learned of some sporadic and geographic shortages of oseltamivir (generic Tamiflu), a drug that can be used to prevent or treat the flu.
As a result, we have made the decision to offer brand-name Tamiflu (all formulations) to all our members at the generic cost-share when there is a shortage of generic alternatives to the medication. This change is effective immediately, and will be in effect through March 31, 2018.
If you or a loved one develop flu-like symptoms, check with your provider to see if oseltamivir is an appropriate treatment option.
