Tufts Health Plan Holds Small Business Accelerator Forum for Pawtucket Area Businesses
Watertown, Mass., May 11, 2017 – Tufts Health Plan hosted a Small Business Accelerator Forum on April 25, 2017 at the Hope Village Kitchen in Pawtucket. The event brought together local business leaders and owners in Pawtucket and other surrounding communities.
“This forum provided local leaders with an important networking opportunity and other resources they need to help maximize their business success,” said Jim Gallagher, Tufts Health Plan’s vice president of marketing and product strategy for commercial plans. “We are happy to be able to celebrate the continued growth and accomplishments of these local businesses, which are vital to the strength of our diverse communities.”
The forum was designed to engage local business leaders on topics including accessing capital for business growth, health insurance options and legal resources. In addition to Tufts Health Plan, presenters included the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights and Economic Justice, Navigant Credit Union, Women’s Care, Pawtucket, Donald Grebien, Mayor of Pawtucket and James Diossa, Mayor of Central Falls. Along with programming, Tufts Health Plan gave away multiple raffle prizes including $200 to a local non-profit. The winner, Evanisio Oliveira of Universal Cleaning Concept, was able to donate the prize to fellow attendee, Gail Ahers of The Empowerment Factory, a non-profit that provides teaching programs and workshops to help young people grow their interest in the arts.
The event was the third in a series of Small Business Accelerator Forums sponsored by Tufts Health Plan. The forums are designed to serve as a collaborative where leaders from relevant industries can engage with small business owners about how to best to overcome the challenges they face in today’s marketplace, while bringing resources to the communities to help these businesses grow and move to the next level.
