Understanding Our Network

The CareLink Network

CareLink is an alliance between Tufts Health Plan and Cigna. Your plan gives you access to more than 977,000 practitioners and 6,300 facilities across the country. The Tufts Health Plan network consists of providers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, while the Cigna network covers the remaining 48 states.

So, no matter if you’re an employee in Boston, Massachusetts, or Portland, Oregon, you and your family will have access to our expansive network of two nationally recognized health plans.

You can choose a Primary Care Provider (PCP) from the National CareLink Network. Our provider search tool makes it easy to check if your doctor is in the network.

You do not need a referral to see a specialist with your plan. And, you’re covered 24/7 for emergency care — at home or anywhere in the world you might be traveling.

In-Network Doctor Visits

If you choose to use a doctor in the CareLink network for covered services, your office visit will be covered in full, with the exception of any copay your plan requires. Any services the doctor provides that are subject to a deductible will be covered in full once your deductible has been met.

Cost-wise, choosing a CareLink doctor will result in the lowest out-of-pocket costs possible.

Out-of-Network Doctor Visits

If there’s a doctor who’s not in the CareLink network, but provides a covered service, you can still see them. The out-of-network service is subject to a deductible and coinsurance. If you’ve already met your deductible, you'll have to pay a percentage, up to your out-of-pocket maximum.

Choosing an out-of-network doctor will provide you with maximum flexibility, but higher out-of-pocket costs.
