COVID-19 Treatment & Medication Coverage

Increased access makes it easier to get your prescriptions filled

Prescription drug coverage

We increased access to the prescription drugs you will need during this period of emergency by:

  • Allowing for early refill of prescription medication without waiting to finish 80% of the days supply from your last dispensed prescription.
  • Allowing refill for up to a 90-day supply to the extent consistent with clinical guidelines, except for controlled substances (subject to CMS rules).
  • To get a 90-day supply of maintenance medicines (excluding controlled substances), you can ask your pharmacist to dispense a 90-day supply, if you have that supply remaining on your prescription. You will need to contact your prescriber for a new prescription if you do not have a 90-day supply remaining, or if you would like to have a 90-day supply delivered by mail order.

Therapeutics for COVID-19 patients

There is a wide array of growing and evolving medical therapies to help treat COVID-19 , including drugs approved by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and drugs made available under FDA emergency use authorization (EUA). The CDC strongly encourages clinicians, patients and their advocates, and health system administrators to regularly consult the COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines if you have questions.
