Ask your provider if they have telehealth services

During the COVID-19 pandemic, you can receive telehealth services from your regular health care providers without cost share if they have the ability to provide telehealth services.

  • Effective for dates of service on or after January 1, 2021, plans will return to their standard benefit levels and any applicable member copays or other cost share will be applied to all non-COVID telehealth services, with the exception of primary care and behavioral health telemedicine services for members of commercial Rhode Island-issued plans, for which cost share will continue to be waived until August 7, 2021.
  • Member cost share will continue to be waived for COVID-related, in-network, medically necessary services. A COVID-19 diagnosis must be submitted with the claim for the waived cost share to continue to apply.

Call 211 for health information and support in your community

  1. Actual emergencies such as trauma, fractures, chest pain and others clearly merit an emergency room visit. In the case of an emergency, please call 9-1-1 or visit the nearest emergency department. Other conditions that are not life-threatening, such as cold and flu symptoms, allergies, sinus infections, etc., can be effectively treated with telehealth.
  2. Telehealth virtual health care services is available to Tufts Health Plan Commercial members (not including Tufts Health Direct) for plans issued or renewed in 2020. Until further notice, there will be no member cost share or copay for this service to our employer-sponsored groups, including all self-funded groups that have this benefit and have not opted out. If you’re not sure whether your plan includes Teladoc, ask your employer.
