Diversity and Inclusion
The core elements of our mission, values, and corporate strategy
"Diversity and inclusion are core elements of our mission, values, and corporate strategy—in other words, they are woven into the fabric of everything we do." - Tom Croswell, President and CEO
The demographics of our region are changing at a rapid pace. In order to successfully live our mission of improving the health and wellness of the diverse communities we serve, we established a company-wide Business Diversity program to strengthen and enhance our clinical programs and the member experience for our diverse populations.
Our Business Diversity program reports to senior management and the board of directors on a wide range of workforce, marketplace and community initiatives to meet the needs of ethnic minorities; women; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and queer or questioning (LGBTQ); people with disabilities; and veterans.
Committed to Diversity
- Health Disparities
- Multi-cultural Providers
We have a long and proud history of community commitment. Hundreds of employees participate in our annual Volunteer Day supporting a variety of organizations across the states we serve. And since 2008, we've donated more than $24 million to nonprofit organizations.
Tufts Health Plan strives to represent the diversity of the members we serve within our own employee population. More than two-thirds of our employees are female, and one-third of our staff is diverse. They are committed to our mission and our members and love the culture at Tufts Health Plan, so much that they rank us one of the best places to work in Massachusetts.
Working with diverse suppliers supports economic growth in the region and better reflects the diversity of our communities. Over the past three years, we’ve established contracts with diverse vendors totaling more than $15 million.
Providers play a key role in our commitment to diversity because they understand the nuances of our diverse members and how best to serve them. This has led to collaborations with providers who have expertise in serving diverse patients, such as Fenway Health for LGBTQ health.
Everyone deserves high-quality, affordable health care. We’re committed to quality service for all of our members.
