Corporate Citizenship

At Tufts Health Plan, corporate citizenship is integrated into all aspects of our business. It is how we conduct our work and engage in community for a greater influence in our society and the environment. It underpins our operations and includes how we treat our employees and how we live our company’s values.

Our community investments include both our corporate and foundation giving. Founded in 2008, the Tufts Health Plan Foundation supports the mission of the health plan: to improve the health and wellness of the diverse communities we serve. The foundation funds approximately $4 million annually in community investments to Massachusetts and Rhode Island nonprofits that improve healthy living with an emphasis on healthy aging.

Our philanthropy also includes the limitless generosity of our employees as demonstrated in their giving of time, treasures and talents to community. Each year, our employees donate thousands of dollars of goods through annual drives, such as holiday giving, food and clothing drives, and volunteer their time to support the communities where we live and work. The Tufts Health Plan Foundation matches both dollars raised and hours served.

Each year since 2006, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded Tufts Health Plan the ENERGY STAR label for superior energy performance at its Watertown headquarters. Tufts Health Plan was the first health care organization in New England to earn the ENERGY STAR label. Tufts Health Plan also has earned the Best Workplace for Commuters designation from the EPA.

Tufts Health Plan is ranked No. 12 among participating large Massachusetts employers in The Boston Globe Top Places To Work and was the highest-ranked health insurance organization in the survey. Tufts Health Plan earned a Best Employers for Workers Over 50 award from AARP and the Society for Human Resources Management.
