Reflection

If there were ever a year to follow the lead of communities, it was 2020.

Here in New England, one community after another faced unprecedented challenges, from the biggest public health crises in modern history that disproportionately and negatively impacted communities of color to stay-at-home orders that hobbled local economies. We saw increased food insecurity, discrimination and isolation manifested in stark ways.

2020 reinforced our steadfast belief that communities know what they need and that the most important work we do is to listen and support solutions to address those needs. Throughout the year, we focused on staying responsive, flexible and relevant amid a relentless tide of crises. This report highlights how we acted to respond to: COVID-19, Racial Justice and Civic Action.

Together with our Foundation, we helped fight the pandemic, lift up voices against systemic racism, fuel grassroots work on the national census and more.

This year’s report marks our last as Tufts Health Plan. We are grateful to our board and the leaders and colleagues who have supported our work, and we’re proud to have accomplished so much in such a short time. As we join together with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, we know we have a strong foundation on which to build. We’re together for better in service to communities — and more committed than ever to taking their lead.
